Vicki Thom, 72, of Kernersville, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on July 25, 2023. She was born on November 27, 1950, in Cicero, Illinois. Vicki was a beloved sister, aunt, and friend, known for her kind and caring nature, her generosity, and her great sense of humor. Vicki's education began at St. Mary of Celle in Berwyn, Illinois, and she later graduated from Morton West High School. As a young girl, Vicki was a clothes model for catalogs, acted in a few local television commercials and practiced figure skating. When she got a little older, Vicki taught herself how to play a 12-string guitar, which she enjoyed for many years. Vicki had a creative soul and was an avid photographer. She had a passion for capturing the beauty of the world through her lens. She also loved to travel and explore new places. Vicki was adventurous and learned to fly a plane. She even embarked on a few cross-country motorcycle trips, embracing the freedom of the open road. The ocean held a special place in her heart, and she made it a point to visit as many lighthouses as she could during her travels. Vicki had a deep love for animals and cherished their companionship. In her personal and family relationships, Vicki was a devoted sister. She is survived by her brother, Frank and his wife, Jenny of Kernersville, NC, along with son, Bernie of Texas; brother, Bob and his wife, Debbie, along with their daughter, Heather and son, Brandon of Westmont, Illinois. She was also a loving aunt to her nieces, Rebecca Thom of Arizona, Timbre Furrow and her husband, John, along with their sons, Geoffrey and Noah of Bend, Oregon, and Kristin Shealey and her husband, Jeff of Arizona; and also her nephew Josh Thom of Washington. Vicki was preceded in death by her father, Franklin Thom Sr.; her mother, Annabelle Thom; and her brothers, Jim Thom and Dave Thom. Throughout her career, Vicki worked as a secretary in various administrative roles. She was known for her efficiency and professionalism. In her free time, Vicki pursued her hobbies with great enthusiasm. She found joy in photography, capturing moments that would be cherished forever. She had a thirst for knowledge and enjoyed researching and visiting historical sites and museums. Her curiosity and love for learning were evident in everything she did. A memorial service to celebrate Vicki's life will be held in the near future. Her memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
