Kernersville - Vinson Gerald Hayes, 78, died peacefully in his sleep on Monday, January 14, 2013. Funeral Services celebrating his life will be held on Wednesday, January 16, 2013 at 2:00PM in the Pierce-Jefferson Funeral Home Chapel in Kernersville, and will be officiated by Rev. Jonathan Robbins. The family will visit with friends starting at 1:00PM on the day of the service. Vinson was preceded in death by his parents, Newton L. Hayes and Ada Canase Hayes, as well as three brothers and one sister. Survivors include his wife, Cathie McCowat Hayes of the home; son Bobby Hayes and wife Jennifer of Pfafftown, North Carolina, son Phillip Hayes and wife Sheila of Clemmons, North Carolina, step-son Eddie Velez and wife Tera of Murrells Inlet, South Carolina; also three sisters and two brothers; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild and numerous nephews and nieces.
