Everett Ezra Stigall
January 11th, 1925 - December 19th, 2017
Everett Ezra Stigall of Kernersville, NC passed away on Tuesday December 19, 2017 in Boone, NC. He was preceded in death by his wife of over 60 years, Leona (Teenie) W. Stigall on August 11, 2007. Everett was the last survivor from his immediate family of 10 children. Everett was born in Guilford County, NC as the second youngest child of 10 children, to Calvin Humphrey and Lettie Everett Stigall. He graduated from Colfax High School and afterward enlisted in the U.S. Navy Air Corp where he served during World War II. After his Navy discharge in 1946, he went to work for Western Electric Company in NC. In 1970, he agreed to move the family to Dallas, TX to help with the opening of a new Western Electric plant in Mesquite, TX. He worked in that location until retiring in 1980 but continued to consult with Western Electric until 1984 when he decided to hang it up for good and ‘go fishing’. He is and will forever be known for his love of fishing. After the passing of his wife Teenie, Everett decided to move back to NC. Everett relocated to Wilkesboro in December 2007 living in Wilkesboro and Kernersville until his needs for support increased. In November 2014, he moved to Boone and was there until he passed. Everett was a kind, loving, compassionate father, husband, uncle, and friend. He provided for his family from the beginning until the very end. He was extremely generous, likely because he started out in some of the toughest conditions anyone could have. He rose from that to have a long, successful career that allowed him to take great care of his family and often his extended family. He felt the obligation to help others if he could and served as a valued advisor and mentor to family and friends. He was also known for his quick wit and great sense of humor which endeared him to many. Everett and Teenie are survived by their three sons; Larry (Cindy) E. Stigall of Boone, NC, Perry W. Stigall (Jill Fischer) of Dallas, TX, and Jerry (Sarah) B. Stigall of Centennial, CO and grandchildren; Landon E. Stigall, Garrett S. Stigall, Preston L. Stigall, David A. Stigall, Lauren E. Stigall, Jennifer K. Stigall and Sean M. Stewart. In addition, they had six great grandchildren located in Texas, Colorado, North Carolina and many nieces, nephews and close friends in Kernersville and the surrounding area. An informal remembrance for family and friends will be held in the Arbor (fellowship hall) at Union Grove Baptist Church, 5424 Union Grove Rd, Oak Ridge, NC on Saturday, May 5th from 2:00-3:30. The remembrance will be opened by Jerry Stigall with all in attendance welcome to speak about their time with Everett. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to your favorite charity.
