May 1st, 1927 - January 17th, 2012
Kernersville-Mary Dell Fales Johnson, 84, passed away January 17, 2012. Funeral Services celebrating her life will be held 11:00AM Saturday January 28, 2012 at Main Street United Methodist Church with Dr. Jeff Patterson, Rev. Dale Hilton, and Rev. Rick Carter officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. A native of New Hanover County, she was the daughter of the late Mary Vance Lewis and Albert Franklin Fales. She was a longtime member of Main Street United Methodist Church where she served as an active member of the United Methodist Womens Circle. She also served as program chairperson of the Circle for a number of years and taught Sunday School at the church. She was a graduate of Meredith College and taught elementary school until she started her family. She spent several years working with her husband at the Western Auto Store in Kernersville, and most enjoyed the time spent with her family. In addition to her parents she also was preceded in death by her sister Genevieve Fales, brothers Frank Fales, Bill Fales, and Dr. Al Fales. Survivors include her loving husband of 60 years Walter J WJ Johnson of Kernersville; daughters Genny Frazier and Jim of Advance, and Suzanne Tedder and Russ of Kernersville; sons Rob Johnson and Beth, and Walt Johnson and Linda all of Kernersville; grandchildren Sara Tedder Boehm and Brian, Katie Tedder, Anna Johnson, Michael Johnson, Mary Beth Johnson, Max Johnson, and Sean Johnson. The family will visit with friends immediately following the service in the Chapel at the church.
