March 30th, 1916 - December 9th, 2011
Kernersville-Mary Eleanor Lacey Coyne, 95, died December 9, 2011 following a brief illness. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, December 17,2011 at 10 AM at Holy Cross Catholic Church with Father Paul Dechant O.S.F.S. officiating. Interment will be at a later date in Holy Cross Catholic Church Cemetery in North Arlington, New Jersey. A native of Jersey City, NJ, Mary was the daughter of the late Sarah Cecelia O'Reilly and John Joseph Lacey. She was retired from A&P Foods after 28 years of service. She was a longtime member of Holy Cross Catholic Church. She was an active member of Holy Cross Quilters group, Kernersville Senior Enrichment Center, and a supporter of the Shepherds Center for many years. Mary was a kind, caring and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great- grandmother, daughter, sister and aunt. Mary's strength and love for her husband and children sustained her and her family throughout a long and blessed life. In addition to her parents, she also was preceded in death by her husband Edward James Coyne, sister Kathleen Schaum, and brothers Patrick Joseph Lacey, Francis "Buddy" Lacey, and James Lacey. Survivors include her son James Edward "Jim" Coyne and Patricia of Winston-Salem, and William Gerald Coyne and Bonnie of Edwardsville, IL; grandchildren Edward James Coyne, Michelle Coyne-Walton, Dr. Natalie Evers and her husband John, and Cory Hawkins and her husband Michael; great-grandchildren Avery Walton, Justin, Annabelle and Drake Hawkins, and Mercedes and John D. "Rhys" Evers; sister-in-law Kathleen Lacey and many nephews and nieces. The family will visit with friends 1 hour prior to Mass on Saturday, December 17, 2011 at the church.
