Samuel Burton Pierce
May 2nd, 1928 - October 10th, 2011
Pinnacle-Samuel Burton Pierce, 83, went home to be with his Lord October 10, 2011. Funeral Services celebrating his life will be held 2:00PM Thursday, October 13, 2011 at Morris Chapel United Methodist Church in Walkertown. Dr. Bobby Roberson, Rev. Carl Whitaker, and Pastor Steve Autrey will officiate. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. A native of Forsyth County, Burton was the son of the late Leona West Pierce and Wilson Boner Pierce. He was a WWII US Navy Veteran and served at Pearl Harbor. He retired from Bassett-Sacks in Winston-Salem. He also had worked for Rockwell and Kayser-Roth in Greensboro. He was a longtime member of Morris Chapel United Methodist Church, and had been attending Pinnacle Baptist Church for the past year. He was preceded in death by his first wife Frankye Nifong Pierce. Survivors include his loving wife Rosa Dolly Foley Pierce of the home; sisters Pamelia Holden of Kernersville, and Nancy Pierce Manuel and Ray of Kernersville; brothers Hillary Pierce and Jane of Stokesdale, Raymond Pierce and Jean of Colfax, and Charles Pierce and Janie of Walkertown; step-children Laura Meadows and Jimmy, Pam Misenheimer and Todd, and Sherry Barczy and Brian all of Germanton; and six grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews. The family will visit with friends from 5:30pm until 7:00pm Wednesday evening at the Pierce-Jefferson Funeral Home in Kernersville.
