Clementine Walker
May 15th, 1920 - June 26th, 2011
Kernersville-Margaret Clementine (Clem) Chrisco Walker, 91, died peacefully at her home Sunday, June 26, 2011. The funeral service will be held Wednesday June 29, 2011 at 11:00AM with Rev. Jeff Patterson, Rev. Dale Hilton, and Rev. Rick Carter officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. She was born May 15, 1920 to Orlendo and Jane Williamson Chrisco. Clem was reared in Badin, N.C., the youngest of 9 children, and graduated from Badin High School at age 15. She graduated from Brevard Junior College in 1937 and attended Queens Business College. She worked for Alcoa Aluminum Co in Badin and met her future husband there. She married Dr. W.T. Walker in June 1949 and they moved to Kernersville in July, 1950. She lived on Cherry Street since 1952. She was a member of Main Street United Methodist Church, an original Kerners Folly restoration committee member and a member of the Kernersville Garden Club. She enjoyed music, playing the piano, golf, reading, fishing, attending Duke and Wake Forest Basketball, bridge, travel, and especially trips to Las Vegas with her son, Edwin. She was predeceased by her husband, Dr. W.T.Walker; and her siblings: Nora C. Peck, Josie Chrisco, Edith C. Coulter, Edwin Chrisco, Howard Chrisco, Mabel C. Barker, Otis Chrisco, and Elizabeth Chrisco. She is survived by her sons: Dr. Bill Walker and wife, Jolene of Morehead City; Edwin Chrisco Walker of Raleigh; Drs. George Walker and wife,Veronica of Walnut Cove; and John Walker and wife, Marty of Wilmington; grandchildren Caroline Carter and husband, Chad, Thomas Walker and wife, Jennifer, Dr. David Walker and wife, Leeanne, Nestor Walker, Zack Walker, Diana Walker, Meredith Walker, and Natalie Walker. The family will visit with friends from 5-7pm Tuesday evening at Pierce-Jefferson Funeral Home. Special thanks to Pam, Kelsey, and Judy, her girls and wonderful caregivers and Dr. William Kelly, who continued Dr. Walkers practice in Kernersville, provided excellent care and was very kind during her illness. It was Clems wish to recognize the special love she had for her son, Edwin. She so appreciated his visiting every weekend since W.T.s passing in 1997 and their many trips to Las Vegas, Atlantic City, and Cherokee. They shared a special bond. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Main Street United Methodist Church, 306 S. Main Street, Kernersville, NC, 27284.
