William "Bill" T. Staples
August 3rd, 1934 - July 20th, 2017
William T. “Bill” Staples, 82, passed away July 20, 2017. Funeral services celebrating his life will be 11:00AM Monday July 24, 2017 at Sedge Garden United Methodist Church, officiated by Rev. George Freeman. Immediately following the service, entombment will take place at Eastlawn Gardens of Memory. Bill was born August 3, 1934 in Durham, NC to the late Edith Bost and Frank E. Staples. He is also predeceased by his beloved son William Jeffrey Staples; sister, Peggy S. Franklin and a brother, Charles E. Staples. Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 63 years Shirley Hughes Staples; daughter, Teresa S. Braswell and husband Doug; grandchildren, Eric Staples, Will Mabe and wife Traci, Ashley Owen and husband John, Lyndsey Lipford, Brooke Hancock and husband Heath; great-grandchildren, Andrew Staples, Abbi Staples, Chase Mabe and fiancé Courtney Kurutz, Kirsten Mabe, Meri Staples, Luke Lipford, Paityn Hancock, Edith Owen, Noah Lipford, Wayne Owen, Ben Hancock; step great-grandchildren, Zach Day, Chasity Godfrey; great-great-granddaughter, Amira Staples; step great-great-granddaughter, Sophia Williamson and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members. Bill retired from Pilot Freight Carriers and the Town of Kernersville. He was known as the favorite playmate of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He also enjoyed playing golf and collecting coins. He was a great story teller and kept his family and friends entertained with his tales. Bill had a warm, outgoing personality and never met a stranger. The family will visit with friends from 1:00PM to 3:00PM Sunday July 23, 2017 at Pierce-Jefferson Funeral & Cremation Services Chapel. Flowers are welcome or memorial donations may be made in his memory to Sedge Garden UMC, 794 Sedge Garden Road, Kernersville, NC 27284. Service Information
