Mementos

Denver contracted a rare brain infection which caused him to lose consciousness and battled for two weeks in intensive care prior to his peaceful transition. He grew up in the Perry Park and Castle Rock, Colorado area and attended Douglas County high school. He worked as a hunting and fishing guide in addition to creating the Cedar Clean Company that restored cedar siding and decks which included painting. His customers loved him so much; he continued to meet their needs for over 30 years. They described him as a true “artist” in his trade and would have no other company do their work. Denver was best known for his love of the outdoors, his dogs and fly-fishing. He was a true fly-fisher his whole life and had the rare insight to watch the weather change and “match the hatch” with his fly tying skills while all the time having his dogs by his side. His goal was to spend as much time as he could with his dogs in the outdoors where he found his faith in nature. Denver was baptized in February 2013. He knew he would eventually join his dad, Bill, and his dogs (Tomah, Zeke, Dylan, Cutter and eventually C.J.) on the eternal river in heaven. Denver was preceded in transition by his father, Bill Dellinger. Denver is survived by his wife Cathy, his son Ryan Smith (Shawnie), his sister Dede Shackell (Leonard), his brother Buck Dellinger (Connie), his mother Marty Dellinger, four nieces Jennifer, MRD, Amanda, Tara and his current best dog C.J. He lives on for us through our memories, stories and in the outdoors he loved so much. We will all be camping on that river in the future. Denver’s open house celebration of life will be held at the home of Buck & Connie Dellinger 5436 S. Laredo St., Centennial CO 80015 on June 9th from 11am to 4pm. There will be opportunities to share stories and memories at 1pm and 3pm. Anyone who knew Denver also knew what a great emotional support his dogs were to him and to those he would bring his dogs to visit while in the hospital or nursing homes. All of his dogs had a special gift to connect with others on an emotional level, heart-to-heart.
