Audrey "Kirsten" Claire Sachau

Audrey Claire Kirsten Sachau, 89, passed away May 28, 2017. Funeral Services celebrating her life will be held 11:00AM Wednesday May 31, 2017 at the Pierce-Jefferson Funeral & Cremation Services Chapel. Entombment will be at a later date in New Jersey. A native of Montclair, New Jersey, Audrey was the daughter of the late Helen Elizabeth Ball and Raymond Lewis Kirsten. She would graduate from Montclair High School and later attended The Traphagen School of Fashion in New York, NY. She also studied voice under Astolfo Pescia in New York, NY. She met her future husband who survives, William “Bill” Richard Sachau, Sr. while working in Newark, NJ. They married on August 27, 1949 in Montclair, NJ. All three of her children were born in New Jersey, Kathleen, Gary, and William “Bill” Jr. With a strong passion for Antiques, Audrey began, in 1960, Birch Knoll Antiques in Sparta, NJ. Audrey and Bill left Chester, New Jersey in 1985 and moved to Chester, Virginia and in 1986 to Kernersville, North Carolina where they retired. In addition to her parents, she also was preceded in death by her sister Marjorie Ruth Manalio. Survivors include her loving husband of 67 years, Bill Sachau, Sr. of Kernersville; daughter Kathy Von Mosch of Randleman; sons Gary Sachau and spouse William “Bill” Robertson, Jr. of Baltimore, MD, and Bill Sachau, Jr. and spouse Thomas “Tom” Washington of Richmond, Virginia; grandchildren Carl and wife Rebecca, Josh, Brad, and Heather; great-grandchildren Kendra, Carl, Jr., and Jacqi; great-great grandson Noah; and numerous extended family and friends. The family will visit with friends immediately following the service at the funeral home on Wednesday.
