Joshua Aaron Behnke
August 22nd, 1992 - May 21st, 2017
Lance Corporal Joshua Aaron Behnke, 24, passed away May 21, 2017. Graveside Funeral Services celebrating his life will be held at 1:00 PM Thursday June 1, 2017 at Salisbury National Cemetery, 202 Government Rd Salisbury, NC 28144, officiated by Father Vince Smith. Josh was born August 22, 1992 in Torrance, California to Beth and David Behnke. When he was six years old his family moved to Kernersville, North Carolina where he was raised, but still had strong ties to Southern California. He was a 2010 Graduate of East Forsyth High School, where he excelled in his technology classes and as a Junior was awarded Student of the Year. After a few years of soul searching, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps August 2015. Josh had a love for music and visual arts. He was well known for his heavy metal drumming, which he taught himself. A few of the bands he was a member of were Sanibel Flats, Chasing April, Surreal Spectrum, and Damien Deadson. After high school, he had played many local venues and toured with a couple of the bands, even checking out the music scene in Southern California and Texas. His family and friends will always remember his sense of humor and quirky mannerisms. Lance Corporal Josh Behnke was very proud of the opportunity to serve as a United States Marine, much to the dismay of his two Army Brothers. Josh was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Carlota and Orlando Villacorte. Survivors include his parents Beth and David Behnke; brothers, Adam Behnke and Timothy Behnke; grandparents, Donna and Donald Behnke; aunts, Barbara Behnke, Dinna Lupinek and Derk, Maricar Villacorte, Emmy Villacorte; uncle, Staff Sergeant Alberto Villacorte and Annie, and many extended family and friends. Josh also leaves behind his loving fiancée, Cassie Keiser. The family will visit with friends from 5:00 - 7:00 PM Wednesday at Pierce-Jefferson Funeral Services Chapel.
