Charles C. Johnson died April 8, 2016 at Moses Cone Hospital. Funeral Services celebrating his life will be 2:00PM Wednesday, April 13, 2016 at Main Street United Methodist Church of Kernersville. Burial will immediately follow the service at Guilford Memorial Park Cemetery in Greensboro. Charles was born April 12, 1931 in Salisbury, NC to the late Susie Beck and Grady Harvey Johnson, Sr. He was also preceded in death by his sisters Eileen Roberts and Frances James and a brother, Buck Johnson. Charles served his country honorably in the US Navy. He was a past Master Mason at P.P. Turner Lodge in Greensboro. Charles was also a member of the Charlotte Shriners Clown Unit where he loved participating in parades and special functions that helped raise funding for the Shriners Hospitals for Children. Survivors include his loving wife of 65 years, Barbara Hutchens Johnson of the home. Others left to cherish his memory include his daughters Toni Johnson and Jeannie Marcinkowski; grandchildren, Josh Ball, Ari Ball and Bri Ball; brothers Bobby Johnson and Leonard Johnson and life-long friend Buddy Webster. The family will receive friends on Wednesday at the church from 12:30 to 2:00PM prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial donations in his honor to Shriners Hospitals for Children, 2900 N. Rocky Point Dr., Tampa, Fl 33607 or Camp United Methodist Church, 4807 Main St., Shallotte, NC 28470.
