Robert Joseph Travers, 89, went home to be with the Lord March 17, 2016. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00AM Tuesday March 22, 2016 at Holy Cross Catholic Church with Father Paul Dechant, O.S.F.S. officiating. Entombment will follow in Eastlawn Gardens of Memory. “Bob” was born in Dublin, Ireland to the late Elizabeth Murphy and Francis Travers. He married the former Mary “Marie” Margaret O’Neill in 1952. In addition to his parents, he also was preceded in death by his son Brian Patrick Travers, daughter Siobann Travers, and several siblings from an original twelve children born in Ireland including Pearl, Daphne, Helen, Morris, Eddie, Michael, and Patrick. Survivors include his loving wife of 64 years, Marie Travers of the home; sons Larry Travers and Lori of Kernersville, and Rob Travers and Lyn of High Point; grandchildren Crystal Leigh Smith and Luke, Jesse Christopher Travers and Hannah, Emily Lauren Travers, Taylor O’Neill Travers, Erin Kathleen Travers, and Brian Charles Travers; great-grandchildren Sophia Smith and Rosaleigh Smith; siblings Joan, Phyllis, Sylvan, and Jimmy; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. The family will visit with friends from 5:00PM until 7:00PM Monday evening at the Pierce-Jefferson Funeral & Cremation Services Chapel.
