James D. Jefferson, 85, went home to be with his Lord August 28, 2015. Funeral Services celebrating his life will be held 3:00 PM Sunday August 30, 2015 at the Deep Creek Baptist Church, 1753 Deep Creek Church Road in Burlington. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. A native of Danville, Virginia, he was the son of the late Tressie Blair and Nathan Josh Jefferson. He was retired from Cone Mills in Haw River, and he later worked with Riley Paving Company in Haw River. “Brother Jeff”, as he loved to be called, was a longtime member of Deep Creek Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon. In addition to his parents, he also was preceded in death by his daughter Cindy Jefferson, sisters Marie Greene and Frances Webb, and a brother Reid Jefferson. Survivors include his loving wife Shirley Webb Jefferson of the home; daughter Nina Terry Clayton of Burlington; son Danny L. Jefferson and Rosette of Kernersville; grandchildren Jonathan Jefferson and Tarah of Winston-Salem, Nikki J. Kohut and Steve of Greensboro, Josh Clayton of Burlington, Jeremiah Clayton of Au Gres, Michigan, Josh Ambrose of Greensboro, and Jordan Ambrose of Kernersville; great-grandchildren Jack Kohut, Ramsey Jefferson, and Noah Kohut; sister Margie Powell and Bill of Danville, Virginia; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
