March 8th, 1936 - November 3rd, 2014
Kernersville-Joseph M. Davis, 78, entered the Kingdom of Heaven November 3, 2014 after a brief illness. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00AM Wednesday November 5, 2014 at Holy Cross Catholic Church with Father Paul Dechant, O.S.F.S. officiating. A reception will follow the Mass at the church. A Wake Service will be held at 6:00PM Tuesday November 4, 2014 at the Jefferson House, located beside of Pierce-Jefferson Funeral Home. The family will visit with friends immediately following the Wake Service at the Jefferson House. He is the beloved husband of Joan Hawk Davis. He was born in Providence, Rhode Island to the late Joseph and Dorothea Davis. He was a proud Navy Veteran and a longtime member of the Knights of Columbus. He had worked at the Narragansett Brewery in Rhode Island, and was a retired brewer from Anheuser-Busch, New York. He enjoyed his retirement with his wife in the North Carolina sunshine, gardening, a good joke, a good meal, and reading. In addition to his parents, he also was preceded in death by a daughter Donna Campbell of Arkansas, and two step-sons Ronald and Christopher Hawk of NC. He is survived by his wife Joan Davis of the home; sons Joseph M. Davis, Jr. of Florida, Thomas Davis and Gregory Davis both of New York; step-son James Hawk and wife Dale of North Carolina; sister Doreen Rousseau of Rhode Island; brothers Robert Davis and wife Marie of Arizona, and Dennis Davis and wife Anne of Rhode Island; four grandsons, and several nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
