Popular dance band leader, trumpet player and music arranger, he orchestrated and played his own musical library with contained many selections made famous by Glenn Miller and other orchestras. Born September 10, 1921 in Yonkers, New York, he moved to Jamaica, Long Island, New York at age 15 and graduated from Jamaica High School in 1939, and started playing with other musicians and decided that music was for him. During World War II, he was in the 529th AAF band in Atlantic City, New Jersey, Buckley Air Base and Lowery Field, Colorado. Gordon’s wife, Eleanor, passed away in 2001. Survivors are: stepson Randy and Carol Buchanan, niece Wendy Morlan, nephews Wayne Dooley and Roger Dooley. Mr. Gordon requested no services.
