Flossie "Flo" Milstead
December 22nd, 2014 - April 9th, 2014
Kernersville-Flossie Esther Krites "Flo" Milstead, 83, passed into God's eternity on Wednesday, April 9, 2014 after a year of battling Lymphoma cancer. She was born December 22, 1930 in Winston-Salem to the late Lewis Lincoln and Esther Wood Krites. Flo attended Forest Park Elementary School and graduated from James A. Gray High School in 1949. She completed a one-year business course from Woman's College (UNC-G) in 1950. She was married to William (Bill) M. Milstead July 1, 1951 in the Immanuel Moravian Church in Winston-Salem, by the Right Reverend Samuel J. Tesch, and was a member there from 1938 to 1983. She and Bill moved their membership to Kernersville Moravian Church in July, 1983 and she was a loyal member there until her death. She loved singing in the choir and working on special projects for the church. She was a fervent believer that the Bible is the authentic source of our knowledge of the Christian faith. Flo followed Bill, loyally and enthusiastically, from one assignment to another when conditions permitted. They went from Houston and Ft. Worth, Texas, to Biloxi, Mississippi, Sacramento, California (two tours), until his retirement at Wichita, Kansas in 1973. During these years she enjoyed tennis, bowling and playing bridge. She served as Class treasurer for seven Gray High School Class of '49 Reunions from 1979 to 2008, and she enjoyed helping in all of them. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, April 30 at Pierce-Jefferson Funeral & Cremation Services Chapel with Rev. Phil Bauguess officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the donor's choice. Thanks are expressed to all those who assisted in Flo's medical care and who are supportive of Bill, who survives.
