Kernersville, North Carolina-Elsie Pearl Schurg Johnson, 88, passed away January 13, 2014. Funeral Services celebrating her life will be held 1:30 PM Wednesday, January 15, 2014 at the home of her daughter Linda Byerly. A native of Melcroft, Pennsylvania, Elsie was the daughter of the late Ina Wolford and Elmer Schurg. Formerly of New Alexandria, Pennsylvania, she was married to the late Ellis Johnson. She also was preceded in death by her siblings Anna Mae Peck, Madge Laurella, Laura Belle Schurg, Jean Daughtery, Mary White, Frances Richter, Clyde Schurg, and Norman Schurg. A homemaker, she loved to golf and was a member of Manitto Golf Club in Pennsylvania. She also enjoyed crafts, crotchet, quilting, and knitting. Survivors include her daughter Linda Byerly and Rice of Kernersville; son Larry Johnson and Jacqueline of Garden City, South Carolina; grandchildren Amy King and Rusty, Lori Craig and Bob, Cortney Trasti and Eric; great-grandchildren Ashley, Gabrielle, Hailey, Emma, and Aiden; sisters Delores Knox and Betty Gales both of Pennsylvania; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
