King-Jerry Eugene Honaker, Sr., passed away peacefully at his home July 9, 2013 following a courageous fight. He answered the Lord's call and went home to be among the Angels. Funeral Services celebrating his life will be held 1:00PM Thursday July 11, 2013 at Welcome Door Baptist Church where he was a member. Interment will follow in Crestview Memorial Park. Jerry was born June 20, 1945 in Bluefield, W. VA. to the late Kathleen "Kay" and Eugene "Gene" Honaker. Jerry was the owner of Mid State Roofing & Construction. After 35 years of service he had recently passed the business to his son and partner. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles. Jerry leaves to cherish his legacy of wisdom, giving, and caring to his children Renee Oglesby and Johnny, Rena Brown and Randy, Selena Honaker, and Jerry Honaker, Jr.; his former wife of 39 years Ann Honaker; grandchildren Johnny Oglesby, Jr., Brittany Lawson and Jamie, Kendra Oglesby, Ashley Thurlow, and Amber Thurlow; great-grandchildren Khylie and Jordan; five loving sisters, two brothers, and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. The family will visit with friends from Noon until time for the service on Thursday at the church. In lieu of flowers, Jerry requested donations to be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital in his honor. The family sends a special "Thank you" to "Will", of Hospice Continuing Care team, for his compassion during his time of need.
