Helen J. Perna, of Pass-a-Grille, passed away peacefully in her home on Oct. 16, 2014. Helen was born on Oct. 1, 1914 in Chicago, IL. She was adopted at a young age by an Italian family and considered herself a true Italian. Helen is survived by and will be dearly missed by her husband of 66 years, Gino; sons, Marino (Lynda) and Terry (Heidi); grandsons, Garrett, Alex, and Colton; granddaughter, Tara (Patrick); and great-granddaughter, Roslyn. The world was blessed by her sweet smile and loving spirit for 100 years and 16 days. This was a goal she set for herself and was proud to have accomplished it with the help of her family, Brightstar nurses Essence and Sherika, and Suncoast Hospice. A visitation will be held from 5-7 PM on Sunday, Oct. 19th at the David C. Gross Funeral Home, 6366 Central Avenue, St. Petersburg. Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10:30 AM Monday, Oct. 20th at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, 445 82nd Ave., St. Pete Beach, with interment to follow at Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Clearwater.
