Robert Reder Goldstein
February 20th, 1915 - March 28th, 2014
Robert (Bob) Goldstein passed away early Friday morning, March 28, 2014, after recently celebrating his 99th birthday. Born on February 20, 1915 in West "by God" Virginia, Robert's family moved to New York and then Lorain, Ohio where he graduated from Lorain High School. Thereafter, he attended and graduated from The University of Pennsylvania's prestigious Wharton School of Business and Finance. Robert took pride in his service in the Army Air Corps during WWII where he served at Wheeler Field, Hawaii and Guam. After the war, he returned to Lorain, Ohio where he married his beloved wife of 46 years, Margery, and raised their family. He took over the family business - an upscale women's clothing store, The Style Center, in downtown Lorain. He was a devoted member of Agudath B'nai Israel Temple, and was a past president of B'nai Brith and Kiwanis Club. Robert and Margery moved to Florida in 1979. A successful retiree of 35 years, Robert enjoyed the heat, playing golf and bridge, shelling with his grandchildren, and time spent with his family. Later hobbies included woodworking, lapidary and crossword puzzles. Robert was renowned for his gentlemanly ways, sweet-loving nature, sense of humor and love of everything chocolate. He is predeceased by the love of his life, Margery, who lost her battle to cancer too young. He is survived by his three children, Jan Miller, Carol Wares, Joe Goldstein, his sons-in-law, Dan Miller and Jim Wares, his six grandchildren and his three great-grandchildren. His family gratefully acknowledges the compassionate staff at Cypress Palms of Largo, Florida who took wonderful care of their dad and grandfather. Remembrances by way of donation may be made to: Jewish War Veterans of the United States of America at: http://www.jwv.org/ or to the American Cancer Society at: http://www.cancer.org/. David C.
