Richard LaCamera

Richard Joseph LaCamera, age 68, passed away Wednesday, August 10, 2022 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Loving husband to Marie for 40 years and devoted father to Jeremy and Jason. He was born in Kansas City, Missouri but grew up in San Mateo, California. He attended San Diego State University and UC Davis, graduating with a Bachelor’s Degree in Renewable Natural Resources. He worked as a hydrologist for US Geological Survey for nearly 30 years. He is survived by two older brothers - Mark LaCamera of Burbank, California and John LaCamera of Meridian, Idaho. Fondest memories include him playing in the pool with the boys when they were young and several of their neighborhood friends. He used to make the most awesome spaghetti sauce. And he always remembered things like birthdays and anniversaries with cards he illustrated by hand. He was a pioneer of the studies of Yucca Mountain which contributed to the security we have today in the Las Vegas Valley. His LP record collection includes early Pink Floyd, Crosby, Stills and Nash, and Grateful Dead. We will always miss his good humor, sharp acumen, shrewd chess skills, and robust spirit.
