Louis Sklar, age 85, a 17 year resident of Las Vegas, passed away Monday, January 14, 2013. Louis was born March 17, 1927 in Montreal, Quebec, Canada to the late Kalman and the late Bessie (Sklarovitch) Sklar. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and the Air Force during the Korean Conflict. Louis worked as an electrician. He was a talented handyman who was renowned for his leather craft and macram. Louis was a past member of the Sun City Summerlin Sewing, quilting, table tennis and woodworking clubs. He was also an avid table tennis player, winning his base championship while in the Air Force, and playing into his 80's. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Mildred Sklar; sons Stuart (Amy) Sklar of Harvard MA and Bruce (Sherri) Sklar of Vienna VA; grandchildren Mitchell Sklar and Nina Sklar of Harvard MA; and brother Norman (Alana) Sklar of Mechanicsville VA The funeral will be held at 10:40 am on Tuesday, January 15, 2013 at the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1900 Veteran's Memorial Drive, Boulder City, NV.
