Ruth "Ruth" Rose Rubin

Ruth Rose Rubin, age 100, of Las Vegas passed away June 10, 2013. Ruth was born Ruth Rose Cohen on April 4, 1913 to Ida and Joseph Cohen in Philadelphia, PA. At the age of 8, she and her parents and 3 siblings moved to California. Ruth attended public schools in Los Angeles. At the age of 19, Ruth married Joseph Rubin. For the first 4 years, they lived with Joe's parents in Pasadena, then moved to Venice, California. Ruth and Joe had a very close relationship with all of Joe's family. They celebrated most holidays together. Ruth, also, was very close to her sister and brother. Ruth and Joe had 2 children, Jack (Jackie) and Marvin. The family traveled extensively, primarily camping in travel trailers starting after WWII. Ruth and Joe introduced several of their friends to camping in trailers. With friends, they visited most of the California National Parks, particularly, Yosemite, and Lake Tahoe. In 1951, Ruth, Joe, Jack, and Marvin, toured the US for 3 months during the summer. In the 1960's and 1970's, Ruth and Joe, in separate trips, traveled to Mexico, Canada, Israel and Europe. Ruth spent most of her life in Venice, California. In 1980, she and Joe moved to Lake Tahoe. After 18 months, Joe passed away, but Ruth decided to stay in Tahoe. Joe passed away 2 month's before their 50th wedding anniversary. In 1998, Ruth moved to Santa Rosa , CA to be closer to her son, Jack and daughter-in-law, Linda. In 2005, she moved with Jack and Linda to Las Vegas. Ruth was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great- grandmother, aunt, great-aunt, and great-great-aunt. She will be missed. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, June 12, 2013 at 2:00 PM at Eden Memorial Park in Mission Hills, CA
