John "Papa" Culbertson

Obituary of John Culbertson John Culbertson passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 16, 2023 at the Holly Heights Care Center. Born October 6, 1941 in Harrisburg, PA he was the son of the late Wilmer and Alsace Culbertson. John moved to Colorado as a young boy and graduated from East High School in 1960. John served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. He was a Sergeant for the 140th Support Squadron, and 140th Tac Force Group serving as a Materials Facilities Specialist. After the Air Force, he began working at King Soopers Grocery Store in 1968 as a stock boy and worked his way up to Manager by the time he retired in 2008. Not ready to call it quits, he continued to work as a Merchandiser for a few different companies until he fully retired in 2019. John (Papa to is Family) enjoyed camping and fishing with his buddies, including his best friend Gerry Hinshaw. Papa loved to spoil his grandkids and was always a big hit with them during the holidays. You could see how proud he was of them with the way he lit up whenever he talked about them. Survivors include his daughter, Shani (Matt) Sullivan, grandsons Tanner and Brady Sullivan, granddaughter Kaitlynne Sullivan, sister Suzette (Jimmy) Fincher, nieces Amy Fincher Green and Ashley Fincher Sitz and several great nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held on April 5, 2024 at 2:30PM in Fort Logan National Cemetery, Denver, CO
