Martha "Marty" Ruth Schneider, 87, of Las Vegas, passed away Saturday, July 26, 2014 at her home, surrounded by loving family and friends. Marty was born October 6, 1926 in Mansfield OH, of one seven children of the late Jacob and the late Katherine (Rehm) Schneider. She was one of the first female managers for Blue Cross in Chicago. Marty had a variety of interests, including animals, fishing, traveling, bowling, singing, music and playing solitaire. Marty is survived by her partner of 35 years Constance Jelke; daughter Barbara Shorts of Newark OH; sisters Dolores Schneider of Willowbrook IL and Joanne Muntan of Mansfield OH; 7 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren and 8 great great grandchildren. A visitation will take place from 6:00-7:00 PM, with a funeral service beginning at 7:00 PM, both at Kraft-Sussman Funeral Services, 3975 S. Durango Drive, Suite 104, Las Vegas, NV 89147. Contributions in Marty's memory may be made to Best Friends Animal Society, www.bestfriends.org.
