Stacy Hill Shoemaker, born December 19, 1958, in Springfield, Missouri, passed away at her home on Thursday evening, March 4. The daughter of Penny and Bill Hill, Sr., of Cape Canaveral and the mother of Megan Shoemaker, Stacy graduated from the University of Central Florida with a degree in finance and accounting. She later earned a master’s degree from Webster University. She began her career at Kennedy Space Center in 1979 with USBI and later worked for United Space Alliance. The high point of her career was the receipt of the Manned Space Flight Awareness Award in 1999. Known for her quick wit and intelligence, the intrinsically motivated Stacy loved time at the beach and the aerospace industry. Her greatest accomplishment is her daughter Megan, an honors student at Florida State University. In addition to her parents and daughter, Stacy is survived by brothers William J. Hill, Jr., and wife Jane of Chuluota and Lance of Palm Bay, and a host of other family members and friends. The family sends a special thanks to the Hospice of St. Francis, specifically Lori and Lindsey, for their loving care. A memorial service will be held at Beckman Williamson Funeral Home in Cocoa Beach on Sunday afternoon at 3:00. The family will receive friends beginning at 2:00. Donations in Stacy’s memory may be made to the Hospice of St. Francis, 1250-B Grumman Place, Titusville, FL 32780.
