Gilbert Rodriguez Stevenson
October 22nd, 1932 - June 27th, 2010
Gilbert R. Stevenson, 77, made his transition on June 27, 2010. His wife of 54 years, Odell, was at his side. Gilbert was born on October 22, 1932 in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Loved by his family, friends, and community, he served his country with courage, honor, and dignity in the United States Army for 25 years. He was a decorated veteran and served two tours in Vietnam. After retiring from the United States Army as a First Sergeant in 1975, he then worked as a corrections officer for the Florida Department of Corrections and retired in 1987. Gilbert is survived by his wife, Odell and his three children, Gilbert Stevenson (Virginia), Jonathan Stevenson (Laura) and Ruth Stevenson Evetts (Byron). He also has five grandchildren; Chloe, Trevor, Heather, Scott, and Mitchell as well as many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at Beckman-Williamson Funeral Home, Cocoa Beach, on Wednesday June 30th at 3:00 pm. Interment and military honors will be at the Sarasota National Cemetery in Sarasota, FL on Thursday, July 1st at 1:30 P.M. You may sign Gilbert's guestbook at www.beckman-williamson.com.
