Rita Quirk Sheehan
August 28th, 1924 - May 4th, 2011
Rita Quirk Sheehan, 86, entered into eternal rest on May 4, 2011. Rita was born in Auburn, Maine, a daughter of the late James Edward and Marion Clifford Quirk. Rita lived in St. Louis, MO most of her life until 2007, when she relocated to Merritt Island, FL to be with family. She will be remembered as a quiet and loving person who asked little of others and yet gave generously to family and friends. Gazing at her beloved ocean, rooting for the Cardinals, enjoying black jack cherry frozen yogurt, smiling at the antics on I Love Lucy, looking through family photos, enjoying her friends and activities at All One Family Senior Day Program, and besting her nieces at cards gave Rita great contentment in her final years. Rita was preceded in death by her husband of 38 years, Walter F. Sheehan, Jr., brother Edward Quirk, sister Helen Quirk Blankmann, and great grandniece, Evelyn L. Rohde. Survivors include her sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Charles Rohde (St. Louis, MO), sister-in-law, Marie Quirk (Carlisle, PA), and brother-in-law, Elmer Blankmann (Merritt Is, FL). Surviving nieces and nephews include: Chuck (Terry) Rohde, Cathy (Gerry) Wombacher, Gregory (Julie) Rohde, Marcia (Ovidiu) Maris, Steve (Diane) Rohde, Paul (Linda) Rohde, Jim (Joan) Quirk, Mike (Diane) Quirk, Barbara Falck, Donna (Bill) Blankmann-Alexander, Bill Blankmann, and Paul Blankmann. Rita also is survived by beloved, grand and great-grandnieces and nephews. The family gives heartfelt thanks to the compassionate caregivers and friends at All One Family Senior Day Program, Merritt Island and the Woods Lake Family Care Home in Cocoa, where Rita was embraced by a circle of love, joy and tender care. A memorial service will be celebrated on Thursday, May 12th at 9:00 AM in the chapel at Divine Mercy Catholic Church, Merritt Island. At a later date, a mass, burial of ashes and gravesite memorial services will take place in St. Louis, MO. Friends planning an expression of sympathy are kindly asked to consider a memorial donation to Divine Mercy Catholic Church, 1940 N. Courtenay Pkwy, Merritt Island, FL 32953.
