Burton Young

OBITUARY Burton M. Young 67, passed away on June 1, 2011 at Viera Hospital in Viera, Florida. He was born on July 11,1943 in Brewer, Maine and graduated from Bangor High School in 1961. Upon graduation he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and served his country proudly in Southeast Asia to include Vietnam and Thailand. After nine years of active duty he joined the New Hampshire Air National Guard and later transferred to the Alaska Air National Guard where he retired in 1996 with 32 years of military and civil service. He was a charter member of the Viera Lodge of Elks and past Exalted Ruler of the Melbourne Lodge of Elks and past President of the Viera Lions Club. He made his home in Viera for the last 15 years and enjoyed the sunshine state in retirement. He was married to the former Barbara Knox of Exeter, NH and they had five children; Bert Young of Portsmouth, NH, Ryan Young of Exeter, NH, Jeff Young of Exeter, NH, Jennifer Makris and husband Ernie of Lowell, MA; Stephanie Workman and husband Tim of Portsmouth, NH; four stepchildren. Rick Fransoso and wife Patti of Portsmouth, NH, Joe Fransoso and wife Lori of Amelia Island, FI, Liza Martin of Boca Raton, FI, Gina Fortuna and husband Richard of Viera, FI. He is survived by his loving wife Arlene, his children and their spouses; grandchildren Zoe Makris, Katelyn Martin, Michael Fransoso and Jessica Fransoso; one brother Ronald Young and wife Joann of New Bern, NC; two sisters Sandra Doughty and husband George of Bangor, Maine, Linda Tompkins and husband Bud of Lucedale, MS, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother Richard. A mass will be held on Tuesday, June 14, 2011 at 11 am at St John the Evangelist Catholic Church on 5655 Stadium Parkway in Viera, FI. Burial will be held at a later date at the New Hampshire State Veteran's Cemetery in Boscawen, NH with full Military Honors. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St John the Evangelist Building Fund. Arrangements by Beckman- Williamson Funeral Home in Viera.
