Gisela Danica Petrovic, 92, a longtime resident of St. Petersburg, FL passed peacefully on Tuesday,February 12, 2019, in Tampa, Florida. Visitation is Sunday, February 17, 2:00 to 4:00PM at David C. Gross Funeral Home, 6366 Central Ave, St. Petersburg, FL. Pomen (Blessing Service) at 4:00PM, officiated by Rev. Dragan Zaric. Interment services will be private. Gisela was born October 22, 1926 in Bilstein, Germany, to Peter Jung (father) and Anna Droge (mother). Gisela, her late husband Petar and children immigrated to the United States in 1956 and settled in Aliquippa, PA. She worked for Phoenix Glass / Anchor Hocking in Monaca, PA for 23 years in the decorating department. In 1982, Gisela and her husband moved to St. Petersburg, FL where she was a member of the St. Sava Serbian Orthodox Church, the church choir and the Circle of Serbian Sisters (KCC). She was also an officer of Lodge 208, Serbian National Federation (SNF). Gisela (Danica to all the Serbs, Oma to her grandchildren) was known as the “energizer bunny”. She could work all day, walk for miles and still create wonderful meals for everyone to enjoy. She was fluent in three languages, loved singing, playing her harmonica, traveling (especially visiting family in Germany and Pero’s homeland of Serbia), cruising, calling bingo, baking, crafts,and gardening. Gisela (Danica) will be missed by her family and friends. Gisela was preceded in death by her husband Petar, brother Ewald Jung, sisters Elisabet Wilmus, Agnes Menne, Hildegard Hunold, brother-in-law Helmut Hunold, and sister-in-law Hannelore Jung, all of Germany. Survivors include brother Josef Jung and brother-in-law Walter Menne, both of Germany; son Bozidar Bob (Desanka) Petrovic, Detroit, MI; daughter Margitta (Lonnie) Mahoney, Tampa, FL; grandchildren Shawn (Laura Sewell) Mahoney, Laguna Beach, CA; Shannon Mahoney, Ft. Myers, FL; Larissa Petrovic, NY, NY; great granddaughters Teagan and Molly Mahoney; and many nieces and nephews. The family thanks the nurses and staff of The Estates at Hyde Park, Consuelo ALF, Life Path Hospice and Seasons Hospice for all their kindness and loving care. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association (www.alz.org) or St. Sava Church Choir, 530 77th Ave. N, St. Petersburg, FL 33702. David C. Gross Funeral Homes, Central Avenue Chapel is serving the family.
