Daniel Robert Bormann
January 16th, 1930 - March 21st, 2023
Daniel Robert Bormann passed away March 21, 2023 at the age of 93. Dan was born in White Plains, NY on January 16, 1930 as the younger twin boy to George and Mabel Bormann. He grew up in White Plains in the family home in a large extended Bormann family. Carefree summers were spent upstate in Stony Creek, NY with his twin brother George, sister Alice, and cousins James, Lois and Pat. After graduating from White Plains High School, Class of 49, Dan was drafted into the Army to serve in the Korean conflict from April 1951 to March 1953. Dan was stationed in Hwacheon, nine miles from the DMZ, where he worked as a mechanic, installing heaters in WWII jeeps, repairing tank engines, and at times heading to the front lines to make repairs in the field. While in Korea, at the urging of his stateside cousin Lois, Dan began corresponding with a lovely nursing student and classmate of Lois’s, Suzanne Graham. After returning home, they fell in love and the two were married on January 14, 1956. Dan and Sue spent their early married years in White Plains, NY where Dan worked for Farrand Controls building the prototype electro/mechanical measuring devices. They had three children, Robert (Bob), Paul, and Carol. In 1967, they moved to Valhalla, NY and remained there until March 1980. Dan was active in local scouting, assisting both his sons to achieve Eagle Scout. He enjoyed camping, fishing, and woodworking in his free time. In 1980, Dan and Sue fulfilled a long-time dream of relocating to Colorado, where he assumed the role of Field Service Representative for Farrand. In 1987, after a quarter century with Farrand, Dan moved on to spend his last ten working years as a Maintenance Engineer for a small software company in Littleton. Dan and Sue loved living in Colorado and spent their free time biking, cross-country skiing, and RVing. He continued his love of woodworking, constantly tinkering is his garage woodshop. Sadly, he lost his love, Sue, in November 2020 to Alzheimers, but continued to live independently until his passing. Dan is survived by his children, Robert (Merry), Paul (Christine), and Carol (Russell), grandchildren Melissa, Amy, Alicia, Matthew, Emily, Brendan, Joshua, and Timothy, and great grandchildren Maceo, Miles, and Meryl. Those who knew Dan well remember him as kind and always helpful. His children will remember him for the lessons he taught us – work hard, be honest, and always ethical. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
