Angela M. Cannici (nee Picciallo),77, formerly of Hackensack, New Jersey, passed peacefully on Tuesday, March 12, 2013 at the Wuesthoff Brevard Hospice House in Rockledge, Florida. She was born on April 4, 1935 and resided in New Jersey until moving to Florida in 1964. She retired from the Motorola Corporation in Plantation, Florida. A resident of the Grand Isle community in Viera, Florida and a member of the Women's Auxiliary of the Knights' of Columbus #6125, she was predeceased by her parents Nicholas and Tillie Picciallo, a brother Frank Picciallo, and nephew Steven Picciallo, all formerly of Hackensack. She is survived by her devoted husband of fifty years, Joseph C. Cannici, brothers Nicholas Picciallo Jr., Arthur Picciallo and his wife Sheila, sister-in-law Judy Picciallo, nine nieces and nephews, and ten grand-nieces and grand-nephews. She enjoyed playing Mahjong with the “girls,” playing cards with her beloved friends from South Florida, Jeanette, Pat, Carmela, Sil, and her husband, Joe, until four or five in the morning, going to bingo, and occasionally going to the arcades. There was never a karaoke night gone by where Angela wasn’t up on that stage loving that microphone and entertaining anyone who would listen to her and the duets she did with Joe. She adored people and enjoyed attending all the events at “Club Grand Isle.” She enjoyed spending time with her Grand Isle friends, especially Anita, Ed, Camille, Joe, Bea, Mark, Bonnie, Gary, Harvey, Roberta, Lee, Joe, Sandy, Peggy, Tom, Wayne, Jan, Dave, Brenda, Leon, Ginny, Bob, Liz, Vinnie and all the other acquaintances she had at Grand Isle. She cherished their friendships and always looked forward to sharing all the special occasions with them. In addition to all this, she volunteered at Wuesthoff Hospital in Rockledge, Florida taking blood pressures and working in the gift shop. She loved sports, especially the New York Yankees and the Miami Dolphins and she was totally in love with Mickey Mantle and Dan Marino! She would often host Dolphin “parties” at her home hoping that either one of them would walk through her door! Angela was at her best when she was with her family. She especially enjoyed spending the holidays with them reminiscing about all the fond memories they shared and cooking up all the special family recipes passed down from generation to generation. Her nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews on both sides of her family--whether Picciallo’s or Cannici’s—were her pride and joy. She had pictures of them everywhere in her home and relished every opportunity she would get to show them off to anyone who happened to stop by. Most of all, Angela loved her “honey bunny,” her husband, Joe. They had many wonderful years together just celebrating their Fiftieth Wedding Anniversary two weeks ago. A cherished wife, sister, sister-in-law, aunt, niece, cousin, and friend, she will be truly missed by all. A mass celebrating her life will be held at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 5655 Stadium Parkway, Viera, Florida at 11:00 AM, Thursday, March 21, 2013. Family and friends are cordially invited to attend.
