Rockledge, FL - Florence Kathleen (Christian) Rivera, 85, born Kingsport, Tennessee, went to be with her Lord and Savior on October 11, 2013. Upon graduating from Sullivan High School in 1947, she moved to Washington D.C. where she began a long career as a Civil Servant. During this time she served at the State Department, Department of Commerce, Walter Reed Army Hospital, and for the U.S. Air Force. In 1955, she moved to Jacksonville, Florida, where she was employed by Headquarters Florida Military District and met and married her husband, then SFC Leo Rivera. Joining him in his service she continued her career in the states and abroad, working in Albuquerque, NM; Okinawa, Japan; Panama Canal Zone; Albany, Georgia; and Patrick AFB where she worked for 14 years in Civilian Personnel. She gave 26 honorable years in the service of her country and dedicated her life to her family. Always smiling, and ever the lady, she lived her life with grace and strength.
