Shirley B Mogil aka Mom, Mommy, Durley, Mimi, 95 (48 days shy of her 96th) Shirley was born on April 21st, 1928, and passed away on March 4th, 2024. Shirley was born in Tampa, Florida, she lived in Sebring, FL from 6th Grade to 12th where she graduated in 1946. After High School, her family moved back to Tampa where she lived until 1951 when she married Barry. After a year in Key West, FL while Barry was stationed at the Naval base, they moved to St Petersburg, where she lived for almost 70 years. Shirley is preceded in death by Husband of 65 years, Barry M Mogil, son, Michael Alan Mogil, Son-in-Law, John R Chase Jr. Parents Israel and Ann Bryan. Shirley is Survived by Daughter, Deb Mogil, Son, Steven Mogil (Debbie), Daughter, Cheri Chase, Grandson, Mark Mogil (Ashley), Grandson, Nicholas Chase (Elmira), Granddaughter Michelle Matheny (Jackson) and Grandson, Andrew Chase (Jess). Shirley was an avid Mah Jong player and loved to teach anyone who was interested in playing. She loved true crime books, shopping and was quite the fashion plate. Everything had to match perfectly. Every hair had to be in place! Above all, Shirley was devoted to her husband, 4 children and grandchildren. She had a lot of friends who preceded her in death but kept in touch with all the ones still alive. She and Barry loved to travel and enjoy life. Both were great dancers and while dating they would go out to St Pete Beach every weekend to jitterbug and do all the current dances with style! Shirley was a homemaker, devoted wife and incredible mother. She was a bookkeeper in her younger years, did various office work and ran a few self-owned businesses. She also worked in retail for several years. If you asked Shirley what her notable accomplishments were being married for 65 years and raising 4 incredible kids. Shirley attended school in Sebring, FL and was a member of the National Honor Society and was a military wife of Barry from 1951-1954. Donations can be made to St Jude’s Children's Hospital and Suncoast Hospice of Pinellas County. Service will be Thursday March 7 at 11am at Chapel Hill Cemetery.
