Jim was born on October 09, 1969, in Syracuse, New York, to James Peterson, Sr. and Marjorie Bogart Peterson. While growing up in Syracuse, Jim enjoyed playing lacrosse, softball, and hunting with his dad. He graduated from Corcoran High School in Syracuse with the class of 1988. After Jim's active duty service, he attended Motorcycle Mechanics Institute in Orlando, Florida, specializing in Harley-Davidson. He began turning wrenches for Harley-Davidson at Ray Price, in Raleigh, North Carolina. It was during this time that Jim would meet his match and the love of his life, Kelly Allene Wenter Abernathy. Other Harley-Davidson dealerships where Jim was employed include: Tilley's, Cox's, and lastly, Red Rock in Las Vegas. Besides being a proud and dutiful mechanic, some of Jim's personal hobbies include: actively participating, since 1998, in an old traditional running/drinking group called The Hash House Harriers; playing beer pong with the boys; cheering on the New York Yankees and the Carolina Panthers; riding his motorcycle; playing golf, poker, and blackjack; and spending time with his family and friends. Jim was passionate about helping anyone, whether known-or-unknown to him, from answering phone calls about how to fix a stranded bike to regularly donating his universal Type O blood. He was a loving husband, father, son, brother, and friend who will be greatly missed but greatly celebrated. Jim is survived by his wife, Kelly, children, Brody Henderson, 22, and Mackenzie Peterson, 4. His father, James Peterson, Sr., step-mother, Avis Peterson, his paternal grandmother, Jessie Peterson, and Jim's numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, in-laws, and friends.
