Lily "Leah Bat Ludwig V Frania" Tokarski

Lily Tokarski was born September 7, 1941 in Krakow, Poland and passed on January 21, 2017 in Las Vegas, following a number of debilitating strokes. She was a devoted daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She was born September 7, 1941, in Krakow, Poland, to the late Frania Rubinfeld and Ludwig Jonas. A survivor of the Holocaust, she was hidden with a Polish family from age 7 months to 4 ½ years old, while her parents were taken to Auchwitz-Birkenau and Dachau. Following liberation, the family was miraculously reunited and settled briefly in a displaced persons camp in Germany. They immigrated initially to Montreal, Canada in 1948, finally settling in Los Angeles in 1955. Shortly after graduating from Fairfax High School in 1959, Lily married Morrie Tokarski. Together they moved to the San Fernando Valley and raised their three children. When the children were older, she began a career as a travel agent, and through that work had the opportunity to take many enlightening trips, including cruises and international travel. After their move to Las Vegas in 2002, Lily began a second career as a teacher's aide in the Clark County School District, where she loved working with special needs students at the elementary and middle school levels. Lily is survived by her devoted husband Morrie, son Larry, of Las Vegas, NV, daughter Kim Schaffer (Jim), of Santa Clarita, California, and son David (Katherine) of Sacramento, CA, and grandchildren Jonathan, Thomas, Elizabeth, Johanna and Rachel. Lily will be laid to rest at Woodlawn Cemetery in Las Vegas at 10:00am on Friday, January 27, 2017 May her memory be for a blessing.
