AMH1 First Class Petty Officer Patrick L. Kaczanowski aged 64 died September 15, 2021, in his home in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Patrick was born September 19, 1956, in Buffalo New York to Leo Leonard Kaczanowski and Mary Victoria Grochmal. He grew up in the polish borough of Cheektowaga, New York. Late in life he joined the Navy where he made many friends. He retired in 2003. He was proud of the fact that during his naval career when he had sea duty, it was always on the USS John F. Kennedy CV 67. He found this to be one of the most amazing vessels he had seen both inside and out. In 1998, while at duty station NAS Whidbey Island, Washington, he met his best friend and love Linda O’Brien. They married May 19th 2001. In 2003, after retiring, he and his wife moved to Colorado Springs where they built a long and loving life together. He loved taking vacations and fall trips with his wife. His pride and joy were his kittens Buddy Boy and Baby Nim, as well as the house and yard where he spent years working in and on improving. He always jokingly referred to his hobbies, the OTB (harness racing), Yahtzee, and fantasy football, as work. He is preceded in death by his parents and brother Dennis. He is survived by his loving wife Linda, nieces, nephews, and other family and close friends. “You will forever be in my heart” “When you look down upon me, judge me not for my past failures, but for the love I had for you that will endure forever.” A full military memorial service will be held Tuesday, October 19, 2021 at 3:00PM at Pikes Peak National Cemetery, 10525 Drennan Rd, Colorado Springs, CO 80925 Please do not send flowers, donate to an organization that helps veterans.
