Richard Cabaniss
November 16th, 1947 - July 21st, 2015
Richard A. Cabaniss Viera, Florida Richard (Rick) Cabaniss, 67, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, July 21, 2015 at William Childs Hospice House after a courageous, yearlong battle with cancer. Rick was born in Camden, New Jersey spending his early years in New Jersey and San Diego, California. Loving travel, Rick spent over 30 years working for Pan American World Airways, and U.S. Air, retiring in 2003. Ocean cruising was Rick’s greatest passion having sailed on over 150 voyages with his wife Judy during their 43 years of marriage. Following his retirement from the airline industry Rick became owner and operator of a CruiseOne Franchise, building up a loyal base of clients who became friends. One of Rick’s greatest joys aside from ‘taking’ cruises was ‘getting the best deals out there’ for his clients, and being part of seeing others fall in love with cruising. Rick’s business and legacy will continue under the stewardship of his wife. Rick was predeceased by his father William, brothers Jeff and Dennis, and sister Donna. He is survived by his mother Doris, wife Judy, sisters Karen Hohman and Kathy Hoak, sister-in-law Kathy Cabaniss, and numerous cousins, friends, colleagues and clients. The family would like to say ‘thank you’ to everyone who has provided support and prayers over the last year with a special ‘shout out’ to cousin Joe (Sonny) Yacinski , friends; John and Ann Stewart, Rich and Anne Wightman, Jim and Roseanne Labarge, Joyce and Steve Riddel, and “Gili” who were with us unceasingly for the last several weeks. Rick knew God and knew he was loved which at the end of the day is all that matters. A celebration of Rick’s life will be announced and held in the coming weeks. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the American Cancer Society at www.cancercenter.org/donate and help stop this deadly disease.
