Margot Wallace

Margot Wallace, 79, of Las Vegas, passed away July 29, 2018. Margot was born September 11, 1938 in Leipzig, Germany. In her youth, Margot performed artistic cycling, gymnastics and acrobatics throughout East Germany. While on tour with a gymnastics team in West Germany, Margot bravely decided to seek freedom, escaping Communist East Germany, leaving her family and everything she had known. She met and married Matthew Wallace in Trier, together raising three children. They lived in Trier Germany, Williams AFB Arizona, Naples Italy, Homestead AFB Florida, Ramstein AFB Germany, finally settling in Las Vegas NV in 1978. Throughout all of the moves, she prided herself in being an exceptional homemaker and loving mother. Later in life, Margot met her companion, James B. May. Together they enjoyed dancing, going to shows, and were active in the Las Vegas Valley Model A Club. She was known to be very lucky and won an unusual number of Royal Flushes on the quarter machines. Margot kept very active riding bicycles, swimming, doing yoga, until just a few years ago. Margot is survived by her children Lanora Wallace of Oklahoma, Michael (Deidre) Wallace of Maryland and Angela (Fabrice) Suplisson of California; grandchildren Morgan and Madison Wallace, Joseph and Mark Suplisson, and Angela Cox; great grandchildren Austin Cox, Dayton Marley and Jaycee Marley; siblings Elvira Kaurisch and Dieter (Bärbel) Wernecke, and former husband Matthew (Fran) Wallace. She is preceded in death by her siblings Ruth Wernecke, Horst Wernecke and Gunter Wernecke, and companion James B. May. A visitation will take place on Friday, August 3 from 4:00 PM-7:00PM at Kraft-Sussman Funeral Services, 3975 S. Durango Drive, Suite 104, Las Vegas, NV. A mass will be held at 10:30 am on Saturday, August 4, 2018 at the Lakes Lutheran Church, 8200 W Sahara Ave, Las Vegas, NV.
