Thomas Barasford Jones

Thomas Barasford “Tom” Jones, 76 of Las Vegas passed away on Thursday, July 12, 2018 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born November 4, 1941 to Thomas and Elizabeth Jones in Preston, England. He moved to Las Vegas in 1971 and began his long career in the casino industry as a Dice Dealer, Boxman and Floor Supervisor. He had an infectious smile, great sense of humor and was an avid story-teller. Tom was well respected for his decades of involvement as a basketball referee and baseball umpire for both local high school and junior college. He was the Past President of the Southern Nevada Officials Association and will be inducted into their Hall of Fame this November. Tom is survived by his loving wife, Suzy of 37 years; son, David (Sarah); granddaughter Madison and grandson; Nate. He is also survived by many in-laws, nephews and nieces who will miss his playfulness and his horsebites. His cats, Mickey and Penny, will miss him too. He spent his days off at the “office”, the racebooks of several local casinos, betting the horses. Tom and Suzy spent many vacations at different tracks in California. A Celebration of Tom’s Life will be on Saturday, September 8, 2018 at 10:00 am at Christ the King Catholic Church; 4925 S Torrey Pines Dr with a luncheon immediately following.
