Charles W. Slaughter was born on December 16, 1937 in Archer, Florida and passed away after a brief illness on October 5, 2016. He was the third child born to EJ and Golda Slaughter. The family moved to Eau Gallie, Florida in 1939. Charlie grew up in Eau Gallie and graduated from Melbourne High School class of 1957. He began his career in law enforcement in 1957 as a dispatcher for the Eau Gallie Police Department. His career evolved to the Brevard County Sheriff's Office where he continued to advance in his profession and rank while working in various departments. He was instrumental in developing the first homicide division for the Sheriff's department. He retired as Chief Medical Examiner Investigator for the Brevard County Medical Examiner's Office. Charlie is survived by his wife, Bess Ann; his sister Juanita Fredericks (Charles), Louisville, TN; his brother Frank Slaughter (Linda), Melboume, FL; his son, David C. Slaughter (Deanna), Melbourne, FL; daughter Diane Sicilia (Danny) Melbourne, FL. He also survived by three grandchildren, Stephanie Sicilia, Haley Slaughter and Jared Slaughter along with 3 nieces and 2 nephews and their families. At Charlie's request, services will be private. Donations may be made in Charlie's name to Florida Sheriff's Youth Ranch P.O. 2000, Boys Ranch, Fl. 32060 or to the charity of your choice.
