Eugene Roy Dials , 77, passed away on, Tuesday, December 13, 2016 at home in Melbourne, Florida. He was born on March 20,1939 inMount Sterling, Ohio to Farish T. and Chlora Ellen Dials. Gene grew up in Kentucky and Ohio. He attended Mount Sterling High school then for his senior year his family moved to Zanesville, Ohio and he graduated from Zanesville High School. After high school he was an automobile mechanic until he was drafted in 1961 into the Army and trained as a Military Policeman. While in the Army he guarded the Berlin Wall in 1962. After his discharge he became a mechanic for Firestone and worked his way up to management, which included a move to Fort Myers, Florida. After leaving Firestone he opened his own automotive repair shop and towing service, Gene Dials Automotive and Gene Dials Towing in the Fort Myers area. He enjoyed attending and providing wrecker services to the NASCAR Races. After his retirement from the automotive and towing service he started a new company installing and repairing automotive lifts with his son-in-law Michael Marceau. He loved gardening and tinkering, he was always thinking or ways to improve his businesses and to help his family. Gene married Dorothy Elaine Durant on November 17,1963 in Toronto, Ohio. They were happily married for 53 years, having renewed their vows in November 2013 at Saint John The Evangelist Church in Viera, Florida. All of their daughters and spouses, most of their grandchildren and great grandchildren were present for their 50th Anniversary and vow renewal. Gene was a member of Saint John The Evangelist Catholic Community. He enjoyed his family especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was a faithful and loving servant of the Lord and his spirituality was import to him. Gene is survived by his spouse Dorothy Elaine Dials of Melbourne, Florida; his 5 daughters; Darlene Carter and husband James of Melbourne, Florida, Jeanette Marceau and husband Michael of Bryson City, North Carolina, Lori Ellingsworth of Tampa, Florida , Donna Lonsiak and husband Peter, of Spotsylvania, Virginia, and Roxanne Dials of Fredericksburg, Virginia. His 13 grandchildren Joe Carter, Michael Carter II, Dorothy Carter, James Carter II, Carrie Marceau Moulton and husband Chris, Casey Marceau Bird, and husband Arie James, Shay Marceau, Jessica Ellingsworth, Jarod Ellingsworth, Abigail Lonsiak, Samuel Lonsiak, Kathleen Lonsiak, and Zachary Lonsiak. His 5 great grandchildren Mahala Bird, Madilyn Bird, Makenzee Bird, Emma Moulton, and Chase Moulton. His sister-in-laws; Rosie Dials. Judy Durant, Cathy Slaasted , Shirley Seagle and Phyllis Glaneman and his nieces and nephews and other relatives. Gene was preceded in death by his parents Farish and Chlora Dials, his parent-in-laws Albert and Alice Durant, his siblings Oscar Dials and wife Juanita, Arbie Dials, Leatha Dials Lemasters, Helen Dials Boggs and her husband John, Troy Dials and wife, Jean, Marie Dials Swyers and her husband Hallard, Nellie Dials Swyers and husband Jack, James Edward Dials, and Gene and Dorothy Elaine's oldest daughter Elizabeth Dials. His brother-in-law Paul Durant and sister-in-law Mary Lou Beach. The funeral service provider is Beckman-Williamson Funeral Home, 5400 Village Drive, Viera, Florida 32955 , (321) 635-1973. A visitation will be held at Saint John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 5655 Stadium Parkway, Viera, Florida 32940 on Tuesday, December 20, 2016 1:30pm followed by Funeral Mass at 2:30pm. The family will be greeting friends and relatives at 1:30pm at Saint John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Burial will be at 11:00am on Wednesday, December 21, 2016 at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens, 1589 Colonial Boulevard, Fort Myers, Florida 33907, (239) 936-0555.
