Donal Roy Sanders

Donal “Don” Roy Sanders passed away at the age of 74 on Thursday, April 27, 2023 in his home in Colorado Springs, Colorado after a long battle with cancer. Don was born in Poplar Bluff, Missouri to Leonard Sanders and Annie Rae (Taylor) Sanders. Don retired as a Senior Master Sergeant from the United States Air Force and began working for the El Paso County Deputy Sherriff’s office and then for the State of Colorado at Zebulon Pike Youth Services Center. After retiring from the State, Don focused on gardening. He often shared vegetables grown in his gardens with those he delivered meals to while volunteering for the Meals on Wheels program through Silver Key Senior Services. He enjoyed hosting pool parties, grilling, going to garage sales, and could be found every morning reading his Bible. Don is survived by his wife of 42 years Brenda (Bricco) Sanders; daughters Sheena Sanders and Brianna Sanders; siblings Bettie D Williams, Frances A Sanders, Dr. Gloria D. (Allen) Taradash, Ronald L. Sanders, C. Patricia (Robert) Amos, Barbara D. Sanders-Augustus, Michelle Sanders, John (Shannon) Sanders; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Don is predeceased by his parents, sister Carolyn Lindsay, brother Bobby Gene Sanders, and niece Rhonda Lindsay Jiminez. A Memorial Service will be held at the Springs Funeral Home at 3115 E Platte Ave, Colorado Springs, CO 80909 on Wednesday May 10, 2023 at 10:00 am. Burial services will follow at Pikes Peak National Cemetery, 10545 Drennan Road, Colorado Springs, CO 80925 at 12:00 pm.
