Ruby T Vega

Ruby Teresa Vega was born on October 15th 1936 in her beloved Brooklyn, New York to Bernard and Anna Castro. She was the 3rd of 4 children. She married Peter Vega on Sept. 1st 1963 and together they had 2 children, Peter and Bernadette. Ruby and Peter raised their children on Long Island in the Village of Lindenhurst. Ruby was a working mother and very involved in the care of her family, always putting them above everything else. She was a true Matriarch, making it possible for her children to attend college while caring for her elderly mother who resided with the Vega family. Ruby and her husband lived in Lindenhurst for over 30 years before retiring down to Viera, Florida in 2004 along with her mother. She spent her time in Viera being active in the Ladies Auxillary and the church. Her son Peter moved in with the family in 2008 and was eventually her primary caregiver as her health began to decline. Ruby was a fighter but her failing health finally took its toll and she lost her battle on May 18th 2017 when she joined her mother, father, husband and her two sisters Sally and Mildred in heaven. She is survived by her children Peter and Bernadette Vega, her brother Robert Castro and her grandchildren, Hannah and Ethan Hicks. She will be missed.
