Joan McCormick

Joan Mary McCormick, née Gootee, aged 82, residing in Las Vegas, passed away on March 29, 2020, after a brief illness. Joan was born in Chicago, Illinois on February 6, 1938 to Elizabeth Poland, of County Offaly, Ireland and Martin Gootee, Loogootee, Indiana and grew up in Chicago. She graduated from Wright College and was a member of the international graphicaloanalysis society. At the age of 17, she married Gary McCormick and went on to have three beautiful children who they raised in the Chicago area. In 1983 Gary and Joan made Las Vegas their permanent home. Joan was a lifelong Chicago Cubs fan, she also loved softball, water skiing and spending time with her family. Joan is survived by her husband, son, Gary David and daughter, Kathryn, six grandchildren, Kristen Crowley of Fox Lake, Illinois, Jessica English of Park Ridge, Illinois, Kevin Cowley of Las Vegas, Declan English of Park Ridge, Illinois, Ashly (Chris) Napolitano of Las Vegas and Megan English of Las Vegas, six great-grandchildren, Damon Crowley, McKinley English, Christopher Napolitano, Gwendolyn English, Isabelle Napolitano and Bailey Crowley, along with many nieces and nephews. Joan was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter, Cynthia Ann, her brother David (Thelma) Gootee, sisters Mildred Lawler and Kathrine "Kaye" (Jim) Dix. A memorial is being held on November 19, 2022 from 2-5pm at Kraft Sussman Funeral Services, 3975 S. Durango Drive, Las Vegas, Nevada 89147 (702-485-6500).
