Tracey Elaine Wrick

Tracey Elaine Wrick (Bohne) passed peacefully from this life to the next on July 2, 2023 at the age of 77 with her daughter at her bedside. She struggled with dementia in the last years of her life. As a result, she spent her last years at home with her daughter, son in law, and grandson in Colorado Springs, Colorado where they could care for her. She was born on September 13, 1945 in Los Angeles, California to Lorraine and Vincent Bohne. She was the middle of three siblings. She grew up in Gardena, CA. Her first marriage was to Thomas Nevin with whom she had her only child, Stephanie. Her second marriage was to the love of her life, Larry Wrick. In that marriage she gained three stepchildren, Joanne, Jeff, and Phil whom she loved very much. Larry and Tracey were married for 30 years before he passed 10 years ago. She missed him tremendously. They had many wonderful years and fantastic adventures together. Most assuredly, they are together again. She is survived by her daughter, Stephanie K. Melvin (Stephen), Grandson, Connor Melvin, sister Elyce Remmel (Phil), step-daughter, Joanne Wrick, and stepsons Jeff and Phil Wrick as well as numerous beloved friends. Tracey was proceeded in death by her husband, Lawrence (Larry) O. Wrick, her parents, Vincent and Lorraine Bohne, her granddaughter, Abigail Elizabeth Melvin and grandson, Daniel John Melvin. Tracey completed one year of junior college and then eventually, she went to school to learn how to drive a big-rig. She had a number of jobs over the course of her life, but the one that she was most proud of was being a truck owner /operator. After learning how to drive a truck she became an instructor and eventually bought her own rig. She drove both long and short haul. She eventually went to work for Costco where she worked in a number of different capacities until she retired. She was also very proud of her work with Costco’s union. Tracey loved her family and friends deeply. She was especially proud of her grandson, and loved listening to him play his piano, violin, or cello and attending his recitals. She had a beautiful, loving bond with her daughter as a result of the importance she place on building their relationship. Friends often became family to Tracey, and she had many friendships to treasure including some that started in elementary school. One of her greatest talents was the ability to make a friend anywhere. She could talk to anyone, and she knew how to make people feel special and included. As a single mom in the 1970s, Tracey was a clear example of resilience. She had a strong work ethic that allowed her to become an owner operator of her own rig in a world where that was not the norm. Tracey also learned how to decorate cakes. In fact, she made her daughter’s wedding cake. She enjoyed learning and creating. She especially enjoyed making dream catchers. She didn’t allow the world to dictate what would make her happy. She followed her heart. A lesson we should all learn from her. Tracey felt a responsibility to the world around her, so she made it a point to be aware of what was happening in it. Voting was something she took very seriously. Dropping her ballot in the ballot box was a solemn responsibility to her. She also believed in protecting workers’ rights and served as a union representative while she worked at Costco. After she and Larry retired and moved to Nevada, they got involved in their town’s local motorcycle club where she served as the club’s secretary and helped with fundraising for a children’s cause. Tracey was loved by so many. She will be greatly missed. A memorial mass will be held on December 19,2023 at Holy Apostle Catholic Church at 11 am. There will be a rosary prior to the mass at 10:30 am. The church is located at 4925 N. Carefree Cir, Colorado Springs, CO 80917. Tracey will be laid to rest along with her husband, Lawrence at the Los Angeles National Cemetery on December 26, 2023 at 1pm. If you wish to join us please arrive no later than 12:30.
