Jennie Helen (Pellegrini) De Vido, 83, a six year resident of North Las Vegas, NV died Sunday, June 20, 2011 of old age, and a broken heart from the loss of her beloved husband, Edward, at the Willow Creek Assisted Living facility's Memory Care unit. Jennie was born April 19, 1928 in Brockton, MA to Luigi and Madelena (Menegus) Pellegrini. She met her lifelong friend, Doris (Parasky) Champ at Brockton High School. Jennie married Edward Paul De Vido of Clifton, NJ on New Year's Eve, 1950. She graduated from Simmons College of Boston, MA, with a major in Library Science. She received her Master's degree in Guidance from Montclair University of Montclair, NJ. After several years as a librarian with the Public Library of Passaic, NJ, she moved on to a long career at Rutherford High School as teacher-librarian where she retired after 25 yrs. of service. She leaves behind her devoted and loving friends of Rutherford High School, Paul Buhtanic and Nellie Fader. After retiring, Jennie worked part-time at the Clifton Library as a reference librarian. She fully enjoyed assisting patrons with answers to their questions. Jennie formerly resided in Clifton, NJ with her family for over 50 years, primarily at 199 Patricia Pl. There she enjoyed many years of loyal friendships and wonderful neighbors. She and her beloved husband, Edward were devoted to each other, and to their family and friends, and enjoyed many years of dancing, cruises and home entertaining. Jennie was a long-standing member, past president and club historian of the Passaic Zonta International Women's Club since 1969. She volunteered at St. Peter's Haven of Clifton, an organization she believed to be a most worthy service. Jennie often expressed her preference for receiving flowers to enjoy during her lifetime rather than at her funeral. Jennie is survived by her children, Brenda De Sousa and her husband, Manny of Palm Harbor, FL, formerly of Bridgewater, MA; Bruce De Vido and his spouse Marilyn of North Carolina, and Paul De Vido of Las Vegas, NV; grandchildren, Christopher and his wife Khristiana, Jeffrey, and Michael; great-grandson, Christopher Winston; brother, Anthony Pellegrini of Vestal, NY and his children; nieces, Mary Kassos of Brockton, MA, and Phyllis Liuzzi of Rockland, MA; nephew, James Cappiello of Brockton, MA. She leaves behind loving and loyal friends, Doris Champ of Arizona, Teresa Pivirotto and Ruth Messineo, former Zontian, of Clifton,NJ. A private funeral has been arranged by Kraft-Sussman Funeral Services of Las Vegas at the Veterans' Cemetery of Boulder City, NV. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to St. Peter's Haven 380 Clifton Ave. Clifton, NJ 07011 or the charity of your choice. Jennie was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She thanks Simmons College for her education to which she attributes her successful career as a librarian. Psalm 23.
