Harvey "Bill" Junior Morton passed away on January 6, 2024 at the age of 83. He was surrounded by his family at the time of his passing. Harvey was born on February 24, 1940 in Coshocton, Ohio. In 1962, Harvey joined the United States Army, remaining in service to his country until his retirement in 1982. Harvey held the rank of Sergeant First Class (3-7) at the time of his retirement from the Army. During his time in service, Harvey would complete multiple tours to Vietnam during the Vietnam War with later, additional stints overseas to Germany. Due to Harvey's acts during his time in service, he was awarded several honors and distinctions including the Purple Heart, Bronze Star, Army Commendation Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal and the Air Medal (to name a few). Harvey's post war duties found him in working within (and being the senior NCO of) the motor pool, where he adapted a passion for vehicles (cars) and mechanic work. Within his personal life, Harvey belonged to the Model A and VMCCA car clubs where he enjoyed showing his older cards (Model A/T's) in parades and car shows throughout southern Colorado. Harvey enjoyed attending auctions in eastern Colorado frequently, where he appreciated the many nuance items that he would find and could later tinker within his car port style garage. He will be best remembered by his ability to bring happiness to others through his upbeat personality and consistent (if often repeated, but still loved) jokes. Harvey was married for 56 years to his loving wife, Mildred Louise Morton, before her passing in December 2020. Harvey is survived by his children Nancy Wilmoth, Wanda Spoerl, Gary Trumbo, Cindy Morton Hanson, Jeanna Morton-Looney and Michael Morton as well as 13 grandchildren. A graveside service will be held at Pikes Peak National Cemetery, Colorado Springs, Colorado on Friday, February 9, 2024 at 10:00AM local time. The family requests additional flowers not to be placed at the gravesite. Any donations should be used for the Wounded Warrior Project, as per wishes of the family, and as a show of respect for our service members.
