Maureen Hopkins, 74, passed away January 3, 2020 at Solaris Health Care in Merritt Island after declining health over the past year. Her funeral service will be held this Thursday, January 9th at Divine Mercy Catholic Church at 1:30 pm. Mrs. Hopkins was born June 9, 1945 in Bellmore, New York to Daniel and Mary Riordan. Mrs. Hopkins married Michael R. Hopkins on February 15, 1969. Mrs. Hopkins gave birth to sons, Michael J. and Dan in New York before Mr. and Mrs. Hopkins moved their family to Miami, Florida in 1971. The Hopkins’ raised their family in Miami and moved to Cocoa, Florida after Hurricane Andrew. Mrs. Hopkins was heavily involved with Divine Mercy Catholic Church. Mrs. Hopkins enjoyed spending her time watching her grandchildren’s sporting events. Her family paid tribute to her, “Maureen is one of the kindest people you could ever meet. She opened her heart and her home to many children over the years and she will be solely missed.” She is survived by her sons and their families, Mike; Kim, Michael Thomas and Shane and Dan; Pam, Jack and Lachlyn.
